Kia ora OVS whanau and caregivers,
‘Meet the Teacher’ evening
Thank you to all those who could make the Meet the Teacher evening. We hope you had a chance to hear about how your child’s class and term are progressing, and have had any ‘start of year’ questions answered. Remember you are always welcome to make an appointment to see your child’s teacher to discuss their learning at any time.
A huge thank you to the Board and PTA for their aromatic and tasty sausage sizzle, and to Sharon Barnes for “wooing” Okara Countdown into donating 3 bags of Hellers Precooked Sausages.
Extending our After School Care capacity
We are pleased to announce that the Board has approved the employment of an additional After School Care staff member to provide for increased demand. We welcome Michelle Barlow to the ASC team.
A huge thank you to Hayley Drake who has done a wonderful job filling in for Cherry Galley in After School Care. We welcome Cherry back who will be returning on Monday 27th of February.
OVS Mini ball Teams – First Comp!
Well done to all our budding basketballers who kicked off their competition this week. We have had great reports of skill and sportsmanship. A huge thankyou to Darcie and whanau for providing this opportunity for our tamariki. A reminder that registration fees can be paid by internet banking or to Jen in the office.
Fern – Fuels for Schools
Today the senior students contributed their voice, and worked with Mr Sayer to decide how they would spend $1261 dollars of sponsorship funds. These funds are generated by the Fern-‘Fuels for Schools’ initiative. This initiative sees Fern contribute funds back to a nominated school for every fuel purchase made.
Shhh…We can’t tell you exactly what they decided as it’s Top Secret – to be announced by the students at our next assembly, but if you would like to know more about Fern, or maybe you or your business are already a customer and would like to nominate our school, you can do so by following this link. https://fernenergy.co.nz/
A massive thank you to the following whanau and businesses who already sponsor our school.
Cochrane & Son Logging Limited
Quality Log Haulage Limited
Quality Log Marketing and Management Ltd
Grimmer Contracting Ltd

Cyclone Cleanup
We would like to extend our gratitude to the OVS community for the Working Bee that cleaned up our fallen trees last Saturday. The community spirit and support was proudly on display and a special shout out must to Gareth Bourke for his organisation and co-ordination. Thank you everyone.
