Kia ora OVS whanau and caregivers,
Otaika School will be open tomorrow, subject to power and water services continuing to be available. Road access is open although there is still no cellphone coverage. However, we will be open on a more limited basis than is usually the case. This means that some staff may be absent and the school programmes may not operate as they are usually timetabled. However, appropriate supervision will be provided to all students who attend school tomorrow from 9.00 am – 3.00 pm.
Should there be a power outage tonight we will endeavour to get a communication out by email and Facebook early tomorrow morning.
Salient Matters
- To the best of our knowledge, the bus service will be operating tomorrow.
- Strong winds are still forecast, play areas will be limited.
- Whether your child(ren) attends school tomorrow is entirely a parental/caregiver choice. Those children who are not at school tomorrow will have their absences recorded as being ‘justified’ rather than ‘unexplained.’
Conclusion
I cannot stress enough that although the school will be open tomorrow, it is your call whether your child attends school. You know your child and the local conditions as it pertains to your family and context vastly better than we do.
Ngā mihi
