Teacher Only Day Dates
Kia ora koutou
To give you time to plan ahead, here are the dates for the last two teacher only days required by the Primary Teachers Collective Agreements (see explanation below). The board has agreed to tag these two days to weekends, so that families who choose to take advantage of a long weekend can. A reminder that these days are for teacher professional development only, so there is no school for children on these dates.
-
13th May Friday – Term 2 week 2 – this gives a 3 day weekend.
-
23rd June Thursday – Term 2 week 8 – this give a 4 day weekend joined to 24th Matariki Holiday
Accord Teacher-Only Days for primary settings
Arising from the recent employment agreement negotiations for the Primary Teachers’ Collective Agreement, the Primary Principals’ Collective Agreement, the Area School Teachers’ Collective Agreement and the Area School Principals’ Collective Agreement it was agreed that any one principal or teacher is entitled to a maximum of eight teacher-only days.
These days are to provide teachers and principals with additional time to:
- Refresh and deepen their knowledge and practice around the local curriculum (within the context of the removal of national standards)
- Strengthen their understanding of the use of assessment tools for learning and teaching
- Respond to the recommendations of the education work programme in the Curriculum, Progress and Achievement (CPA) Report
- Familiarise themselves with curriculum work changes that will become available over the term of the collective agreements.
End of Collective Agreement 30 June 2022. Term 2 Week 9.
