Subject: WHANGAREI CENTRAL DAY CALF CLUB
Please be advised the Committee met this evening and regretfully have decided to cancel the annual Central Day inter-school competition for calves, lambs and goats, which was to be held on 4 November next week.
Unfortunately Level 2 Covid restrictions limiting event gatherings to 100 attendees and the uncertainty of lockdown status on an ongoing basis made it too difficult to reliably organise the event this year.
The Committee felt that it was fairer to schools, parents and children to advise them well in advance of this to allow schools to plan their Ag Days rather than maintain a wait and see approach to rules being lifted.
The Committee is well aware of the disappointment many of the children who were looking to show their efforts and pets will be feeling and we share their disappointment at not being able to satisfactorily hold the event this year.
We look forward to next year however, encourage everyone to get their vaccine and we hope to be back to normal in 2022. If anyone requires any further information or wishes to discuss any of the above please do not hesitate to contact me.
