School Cross Country – Monday 7th September

School Cross Country – under level 2 restrictions

Purpose:

(a) to provide a competition event for the students

(b) to provide parent/caregivers only an opportunity to watch their child(ren) participate in cross country

To be able to run this event we MUST have a reduced number of parents/caregivers on the school grounds at any one time.  The rules of level 2 gatherings apply to our parents.

How it must work…

  • parents enter the school grounds by the bus bay only and sign in and importantly out in the contact tracing register – these will be set up under gazebos  – use the QR code as well
  • use the hand sanitiser
  • parents to leave the grounds after their child’s race to allow other parents in to watch their child’s race
  • parents MUST 2m distance or 1m distance if they wear a face mask
  • parents MUST stay on the courts and or by the senior playground, behind the rope – this is the finishing shoot – see attached map
  • parents MUST stay separate from the student spectators
  • the children will be on the decks watching and cheering on the runners
  • If parents have urgent office business then normal sign in is required – non urgent business can wait for another day – be aware this is the running track and a school event
  • 2 free sausages will be cooked and given to the students on a stick – normal lunch please
  • Once the last race is run – parents may choose to take their child home – teachers must be informed – get your child to approach you at fence to communicate
  • We will run this in the wet – SO SEND A CHANGE OF CLOTHES PLEASE – the classrooms are warm – parents bring a raincoat as you will not be able to shelter with the student spectators

We are aware parents may have to wait around in cars between races for multiple children.  PLEASE social distance.  The school accepts no responsibility for outside of school actions.  On site it is essential you follow the distancing rules for us to run this event.  Please support us supporting your child and keep our country safe.

THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH GUIDELINES – if you need to understand the why

However as soon as your event or activity brings people onsite who are not there for education purposes, including students, parents and caregivers, then the rules for gatherings do apply. This would include performances such as school plays, cultural events and sporting activities.

Requirements for gatherings at Alert Level 2:

  • gatherings must have no more than 100 people in each defined space (and not more than 10 in Auckland from next week)
  • keep high hygiene standards
  • keeping a physical distance from people you don’t know remains important. If you can’t maintain physical distance from people you don’t know (recommended 1 metre where practical), participants could consider wearing a face covering
  • contact tracing must be in place (display QR code posters).
  • no one should participate if they have COVID-19 symptoms or if they need to be in isolation for any reason.

Defined space

A defined space is somewhere separated from other spaces by either:

  • walls or partitions — whether indoors or outdoors, or
  • at least 2 metres between groups of people when outdoors.

If a place has more than 1 defined space, then people should not intermingle between the defined places. This includes when entering, leaving, or using the toilet. It does not include workers.

This also applies to separate businesses that work from the same location.
