Otaika Valley Communication Processes

Dear parents/caregivers of Otaika Valley School,

We are preparing for possible level 3 or even 4 going forward.  Today teachers printed hardcopy packs for the possibility of short notice directives from government.  Hopefully this will not be the case.  Our lessons from last time taught us communication was our biggest challenge.

IMPORTANT: 

• Our major communication/announcements from school to parents will be through email via our website.
• The new school website gives me the ability to see who has read all emails. On Wednesday 12^th August a cross-country postponement notice went out at 2:27pm.  65.2% of our parents read it.  At 9:20am the same day an essential message for Level 2 at School was sent.  63% read it.
• If you want to be updated, informed and help us keep everyone safe and or learning, check your emails from school each day.

PARENTS PLEASE…

• Go to our school website otaika.school.nz and…
  • Go to, online forms/update contact details – if you are not receiving emails or your email has changed
  • Go to, About Us/Website Icon on Phones – follow the instructions to put the website icon on your phone – this will give you a shortcut to the latest major school email
  • Turn on email notifications to receive instant notifications
  • Go to, News & Updates for a list of historical newsletters
  • Teachers will communicate to their class parents about class level information through email and or seesaw

If you do not do this then I cannot communicate with you.  Please take personal responsibility.

 

COVID-19 App – PLEASE FOLLOW THE LINK AND INSTRUCTIONS BELOW

Otaika Valley School now has the QR code on all gates and classrooms.  The Ministry of Health guidance has been for widespread use of this app and tracker with all businesses, which I believe is going to be compulsory within a weeks time.  Please do your thing.

PARENTS WHO ENTER THE GATES UNDER LEVEL 2 MUST SIGN THE REGISTER BY ROOM 3 – otherwise do not enter the school and wait for your child to come to the gate – or ring the office 4322731 and we will deliver you child
